Every day, I leave home.
I go to work.
I come back home.
If there’s something unfinished around the house, I get it done.
And sometimes, when I’m too tired, I tell myself—
“I’ll do it tomorrow.”
I talk to my wife for a while.
I eat.
I go to sleep.
And then, the same tomorrow.
Leave home.
Go to work.
Come back home.
Sometimes, it feels like I’m trapped in a time loop.
Recently, I lost my mother.
For a few days, I felt like life would never be the same again.
Maybe time would stop.
Maybe the pain of losing her would change everything.
But then the my duty leaves ended.
I went back to work.
I came back home.
The unfinished work started again.
Life kept moving.
And sometimes, a strange question comes to my mind—
The person who spent her entire life building us…
did we not even have enough time to grieve for her?
Or maybe we do have the time…
It’s just that life doesn’t let us stop.
Sometimes, I meet someone who knows about my loss.
They ask—
“Are you okay?”
I smile and say—
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
Maybe they try to read something in my eyes.
I smile again.
And change the subject.
But after they leave, the same question stays with me—
Am I really okay?
Maybe I’m not.
But then I think…
Who do I tell?
How do I say it?
If I sit in front of someone and tell them what’s going on inside me, will they think I want sympathy?
Or will they think I want a solution?
When maybe I want neither.
Maybe I just want…
to sit with someone and talk for a while.
But does anyone really have that kind of time anymore?
Maybe they do.
Maybe they don’t.
I have my wife.
Maybe I should tell her all of this.
But then another thought comes to mind—
If I tell her that I’m hurting inside, what if she starts thinking that she isn’t able to make me happy?
When the truth is, it has absolutely nothing to do with her.
She is there for me.
It’s just that some pain cannot be taken away by another person.
It can only be…
heard.
And maybe that’s something we’ve forgotten.
We’ve started looking for solutions to every kind of pain.
Someone has suffered a financial loss.
Someone has lost someone they loved.
Someone is hurting because they couldn’t be with the person they wanted.
Someone’s dreams remain unfinished.
Someone has everything in their relationship, yet still feels like something is missing.
Everyone has a story of their own.
But maybe the biggest problem isn’t that people are hurting.
Maybe the problem is that—
people don’t have the time to talk about their pain.
We ask—
“Are you okay?”
And the other person says—
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
And we move on.
Because we have work to do.
We have to go home.
We have children to look after.
Bills to pay.
We have to wake up early tomorrow.
And life…
keeps moving.
But sometimes I wonder—
What if we simply asked someone,
“Tell me honestly… are you really okay?”
And then stayed quiet for a while.
Maybe, for the first time, they would be able to say—
“No.”
And maybe they wouldn’t need advice.
Maybe they wouldn’t need a solution.
Maybe all they need is for someone to sit beside them.
Without trying to fix them.
Without trying to explain their pain.
Without saying—
“Time will heal everything.”
Just…
stay with them for a while.
Because maybe there is something inside all of us—
something we want to say,
but never do.
And maybe…
that is what we call—
Unsaid Things.
